Windows

Heard of Cryptolocker? Ransomeware? Protect yourself from such threats with this simple, effective, and FREE backup solution called Veeam Endpoint Backup. I'll show you how to do it in three easy steps.

STEP 1: Install the software, locate the programs and run “Create Veeam Recovery Media”. Select “ISO image”, and specify a destination directory. This takes a few minutes; the ISO file is relatively small. Do this whenever you upgrade your computer.

STEP 2: Launch “Configure Backup”, select a network share or USB hard drive for the destination, deselect the options to perform backups on a schedule or when you logoff.

STEP 3: Launch “Veeam Endpoint Backup” to create a full backup of your data, so it might take a while. I backed up my 200GB in 40 minutes to a USB drive. When it completes, go back to "Configure Backup", and this time choose to have backups generated regularly or when you logoff.

Done!

Your new backups are for changed or added data - typically much faster and smaller than the original backup. Lastly, make sure you know how to restore from backups. Launch “File Level Restore”, select the backup date, browse to a file that you want to restore, and choose where to restore it to.

Now you are protected and can do simple restores. To perform a full system restore after catastrophic failure, refer to the following instructions:
